What Should Be In Your First Aid Kit?

It never hurts to be over-prepared! Life is full of bumps and bruises, which is why GASP’s mission is to prepare you for all of tomorrow’s disasters, both big and small.

In the spirit of preparation, we’ve compiled a list of things that should be included in your household first aid kit. From a grazed knee, to a zombie bite, you’ll be grateful you had these items lying around the next time you find yourself in trouble.

  • sterile gauze pads of different sizes

  • adhesive tape

  • adhesive bandages in several sizes

  • elastic bandage

  • a splint

  • antiseptic or alcohol wipes

  • antibiotic ointment

  • antiseptic solution (like hydrogen peroxide)

  • hydrocortisone cream (1%)

  • acetaminophen and ibuprofen

  • extra prescription medications

  • tweezers

  • sharp scissors

  • safety pins

  • disposable instant cold packs

  • calamine lotion

  • alcohol wipes or ethyl alcohol

  • thermometer

  • plastic non-latex gloves (at least 2 pairs)

  • flashlight and extra batteries

  • a blanket

Make sure to store your first aid kit somewhere easily accessible, and check it regularly to replace missing items or medicines that may have expired. Then, at the first sign of danger, you’ll be prepared to fight off any infection and heal any wound!

*DISCLAIMER – First aid kits cannot mend a broken heart. Linda, I’m so sorry. Please come back.
